| HAMILTON – The Colgate men’s hockey team begins its 2026-27 season this weekend with a road series against the Stonehill Skyhawks.The Raiders finished 13-20-4 last season with a 9-10-3 record in conference play. After defeating Yale in the ECAC Opening Round, Colgate was eliminated by the eventual ECAC Champions Dartmouth in the quarterfinals. Head coach Mike Harder added 11 newcomers along with a new assistant coach after the departure of Anthony Walsh. C.J. Eick joins the staff after three years with the Waterloo Black Hawks in the USHL. Of the 11 newcomers, nine are first years and two have joined via the transfer portal.Included in the newcomers, first-year Sam Lyne joins Colgate this season and brings international experience with him. Lyne represented Great Britain in the 2026 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Men’s World Championship this past summer in Switzerland. Ryan Sullivan will wear the ‘C’ for Colgate this season. Brett Merner and Antonio Fernandez were named alternates. Sullivan finished tied-second on the team in points last season with 26 including 19 assists in 36 games. Netminder Reid Dyck returns for his sophomore season after starting 27 games last season. Dyck went 10-15-3, posted a .897 save percentage, and averaged 3.17 GAA per game. On the backend, Isaiah Norlin comes back after earning Second Team All-ECAC honors in the 2025-26 season. Norlin scored eight goals and tacked on a team-leading 20 assists in his first season with the Raiders. Up front, Max Nagel will look to show what he can do when healthy. Nagel played 27 games last season but still ranked tied-second on the team in points. The junior is the only returning player to have scored double-digit goals last season. Colgate will host its home opener Friday, Oct. 16 against New Hampshire. They will have a Homecoming and Hall of Honor Celebration before the puck drops at 7 p.m. |
