A key member of the Canisius College Atlantic Hockey Championship-winning team last season, defenseman Ben Parker (Port Perry, Ontario) will continue his career with the Alaska Aces of the ECHL.

As a senior, Parker helped lead Canisius to its first Atlantic Hockey Championship. In 41 games, the defenseman totaled 12 points on three goals and nine assists, recording nine of his 12 points during the last 10 games of the season of the title run.

Parker was also one of the anchors on the Griffs’ penalty kill unit. Canisius set a school record last year by killing 90.1 percent of its opponents’ extra-man chances, the 11th-best mark in NCAA history. Parker led the Griffs with a plus/minus rating of +10 during the campaign.

In 132 career games at Canisius, Parker totaled 27 points, six goals and 21 assists. He was also a four-time selection to the Atlantic Hockey All-Academic Team.

Alaska is the ECHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames of the NHL and the Abbotsford Heat of the AHL.
