Canisius freshman forward Grant Meyer has been named to the 2017-18 Atlantic Hockey Conference All-Rookie Team, league officials announced Monday.

A native of Genoa, Ohio, Meyer becomes the ninth player in program history to garner all-rookie team accolades and the second in as many seasons, as current sophomore Nick Hutchison was named to the squad a year ago.

Meyer took part in 27 league games during his inaugural campaign with the Golden Griffins, recording six goals and eight assists for 14 points. He ranked fourth in the league in goals and fifth in scoring among first-year players.

Meyer garnered Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Week honors after posting a season-high three points (2g, 1a) in a 6-1 victory over American International on Jan. 12.

The Atlantic Hockey Conference will announce its all-league teams March 8 and will reveal its individual award winners on March 15.

Second-seeded Canisius will host No. 8 seed American International in the quarterfinals of the 2018 Atlantic Hockey Conference Tournament March 9-11 at KeyBank Rink at HARBORCENTER in downtown Buffalo.

The best-of-three series gets underway on March 9 with a 7:35 p.m. contest while game two is scheduled for an 8:05 p.m. puck drop the following evening. If necessary, a winner-take-all game three will be held March 11 at 7:05 p.m.

The winner of the series advances to the tournament semifinals, scheduled for March 16 at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, N.Y.
