Buffalo State Names David Dee Head Women’s Hockey Coach

BUFFALO, N.Y.—Buffalo State director of athletics Jerry Boyes announced the formal hiring of former assistant Dave Dee as the Bengals head women’s ice hockey coach.

Dee, who served as the Bengals assistant coach and recruiting coordinator this past season, also previously served as an assistant coach with the men’s program from 1997 through 2005.

Dee has been active in the Buffalo Saints Youth Hockey organization for many years, where he was instrumental in the creation of the organization’s girls’ program. He was the hockey director from 2012 to 2017 and has served as the vice president of the organization since 2015. With the Saints, he coached girls’ teams to back-to-back New York State Tournament appearances, including a berth in the final four in 2016.

Dee competed as a goalie for North Country Community College and the University of Wisconsin-Superior where he completed his bachelor’s degree.

He also worked for nearly 30 years as a television sports producer/director.
