Buffalo Stars Salute the Troops Opening Weekend

Buffalo Stars set for Annual Youth Opening Weekend

The Buffalo Stars will officially open the 2013-2014 Youth Hockey Season on Saturday, September 14th with their Annual Salute to the American Troops Dayand Youth Opening Weekend.

Six Buffalo Stars boys teams will compete in league and non league games against local opponents as they celebrate the official start of the youth hockey season.  Following each game, the Buffalo Stars will host their opponents with a post game meal.

As a show of support for the brave men and women of our Armed Forces, the Buffalo Stars will also conduct a Chinese Auction on this day with all proceeds going to support the Wounded Warrior Project. To learn more about the Wounded Warrior Project visit: http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org

The schedule of games at Holiday Twin Rinks is as follows:

01:00pm:   Peewee Major vs Tonawanda

02:30pm:   U15 vs Webster

04:00pm:  Bantam Minor vs Amherst

05:30pm:  U16 Split vs Southtowns

07:00pm:  U16 Full vs Cheektowaga

08:45pm:  U18 Full vs Webster

In addition to the games be broadcast over the internet, replay of the games can be watched in the Upper Lobby at Holiday as the teams are enjoying their meal.

A Sports Photographer will also be on duty that day.

Janet has been covering women's hockey for over 35 years. Along with a 38 year career in Public Relations and over 40 years photographing sports, she found a passion in women's hockey. Her initial story was on the founding of the Niagara University D1 program, she expanded to collegiate and youth and was active in the founding and promoting of the WNY Girls Varsity Ice Hockey Federation. When Professional Women's Hockey hit the ice she was there, one of the first to release the story in WNY. Along with her husband, Randy, people comment that if there's hockey, the Schultz's are there!
