Pavel Buchnevich agreed to terms on a two-year, $6.5 million contract with the New York Rangers on Friday. It has an average annual value of $3.25 million.

The 24-year-old forward, who was a restricted free agent, avoided a salary arbitration hearing scheduled for July 29. He had an NHL career-high 21 goals and 38 points in 64 games with the Rangers last season.

Selected by New York in the third round (No. 75) of the 2013 NHL Draft, Buchnevich has 101 points (43 goals, 58 assists) in 179 regular-season games and one assist in five Stanley Cup Playoff games.
