MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State Men’s Ice Hockey team battled back and forth with the Golden Eagles of Brockport on Friday night, but ultimately found themselves on the losing side of the 4-3 battle.

Morrisville got on the board first in an unexpected way at the 15:50 mark in the first period as Joseph Santino (Woodbridge, Ontario) took a pass from Jordan Carvalho (Brampton, Ontario) and found the back of the net on a short-handed tally.

Brockport got themselves back into the game quickly, scoring a power play goal just 38 seconds into the second period, knotting the game up at one goal apiece.

Stevie Ray Adams (Akwesasne, Quebec) put the Mustangs up 2-1 on an unassisted goal at the 10:11 mark. Unfortunately for Morrisville, the host Golden Eagles rattled off two goals in just over a minute, the first at 15:21 and the second at 16:35 to put Brockport up 3-2.

The Mustangs were able to take advantage of a Brockport penalty, scoring at the 4:25 mark in the third period. Henry Hearon (Chicago, Ill.) notched the power play goal, his first of the season, to even the score at 3-3. CJ Stubbs (Pleasant Grove, Vt.) and Carvalho assisted on the play.

Despite outshooting the Golden Eagles in the third period, it would be Brockport who would eventually pull away with the game winner at the 9:27 mark in the third period.

With the win, Brockport improved to 1-2-1 overall and 1-2-0 in the SUNYAC, while Morrisville State fell to 0-4-1 overall and 0-2-1 in the SUNYAC.

The Mustangs will look to turn things around on their home ice on Saturday night as they host Brockport at 7 PM in the return trip of their conference series.
