Brockport Deals Fredonia Tough Loss In OT

FREDONIA, N.Y. — Brockport’s Ryan Kanges scored 1:54 into overtime to lift the Golden Eagles to a 4-3 SUNYAC win over Fredonia in men’s hockey.

It was the second goal of the game for Kanges, who earned the No. 1 star. Chase Nieuwendyk picked up an assist, his third of the game, which landed him the second star.

Zac Sikich and Tim Kielich had Brockport’s other goals. Bobby Polachek (Kingston, Pa.), Taylor Bourne (Calgary, Alberta), and Jimmy Morgan (Highlands Ranch, Col.) scored the Fredonia goals.

Polachek earned the No. 3 star.

The loss was damaging to Fredonia’s playoff chances. The Blue Devils (7-12-3 overall, 3-8-2 SUNYAC) fell five points behind the Golden Eagles (9-10-3 overall, 4-6-3 SUNYAC) with three games left.

Eric Bogart (London, Ont.) made 35 saves in the Fredonia net. Cole Burack made 32 saves for Brockport.

The Blue Devils travel to Geneseo for a 7 p.m. game Saturday.
