EAST MEADOW, New York – The New York Bobcats are proud to announce that forward and captain Corey Kennedy has committed to play and attend school at Neumann University beginning in the fall of 2016.

Kennedy, ’95, spent three years with the Bobcats from 2013-16 and finished with the most assists in franchise history with 107, and also finished second in franchise points with 150 and games played with 126.

The Clemmons, NC product finished the 2015-16 season with an EHL best 66 points and 48 assists. He also registered 18 goals.

Kennedy was named a First-Team All Star last year in the EHL while he finished his career with nine points in 12 post-season games for New York.

Neumann University competes in the NCAA Division III ECAC West and is coached by Matt Tendler, who is now in his second season.

“We are so happy for Corey and his family. He worked extremely hard during his time in New York to achieve his dream of playing NCAA hockey. This is a kid who is a heart and soul player and will allow nothing to get in the way of his goals and dreams. He is going to be an absolute steal for Coach Tendler and Neumann. Corey will be a very, very productive college hockey player. Loyalty is a word rarely used anymore especially in hockey and Corey defined loyalty with the New York Bobcats. This is a kid who could’ve left and pursued other avenues easily but always kept his allegiance to our organization and the people involved, said Head Coach and General Manager, Craig Doremus.

“Off the ice, Corey had a huge impact as well. He was a three-year billet player who has now become a fixture in the Long Island community. Corey worked at our rink for years and now continues to work at the Hub in Syosset. Corey is a role model for all the youth players with the Long Island Gulls. He continues to do a great job mentoring many youth hockey players to this day.

We want to thank Corey and the Kennedy family for all their hard work and dedication to the Bobcats over the past three years. We look forward to following Corey as he begins his college hockey career in Neumann.”

Kennedy is the 10th NCAA commitment from this current 2015-16 roster.

The New York Bobcats would like to congratulate Corey and his family on this wonderful accomplishment.
