Austin Has Six Pt. Night, Roc City Crushes Syracuse 7-0

Wesley Austin was all over the ice for Roc City, as he tallied one goal and five assists in Roc City’s 7-0 win over Syracuse.

Austin beat Hunter Andersen with a shot 18:45 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Roc City. John Melcher provided the assist. Austin dished an assist on Anthony DePetres’s goal that made the score 2-0 Roc City at 12:14 into the second period. He then added assists on James Lockamyeir’s goal at 1:04 into the third, on John Papas’s goal at 7:03 into the third, on DePetres’ goal at 13:04 into the third, and on Melcher’s goal at 14:55 into the third.
Roc City was boosted by Ian Stahl, who turned in a shutout with 30 saves. Stahl certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.84 entering the contest.

Roc City forced Syracuse’s netminders to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots and forcing 29 saves. Andersen made 13 stops and Ryan Scheide made 16. Roc City put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Syracuse to score on any of its three power plays. Roc City found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Roc City averages 4.0 goals per contest.

Roc City also got points from Papas, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Melcher, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and DePetres, who also registered two goals and three assists. Roc City also got a goal from Aiden Conolly as well. In addition, Roc City received assists from Jared Tam-Grimshaw and John Wise, who each chipped in one.

Syracuse’s offense operated below its season average. Syracuse puts an average of 3.1 pucks into the net per game.

Roc City incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Syracuse incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
