Army Hockey Breaks Into Top 20

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point hockey team is ranked 20th in this week’s USCHO.com National Coaches Poll.

The Black Knights boast a 13-5-1 record in the first half of the year and are one of five teams to have at least 13 wins in 2019. The team’s .711 winning percentage ranks eighth in the country.

Army received 55 votes in this week’s national poll after a Sunday night victory over New Hampshire by a score of 5-4. The Cadets are 3-0 against non-league opponents this season with wins over the Wildcats, UConn (2-1) and Union (3-2).

The Black Knights rank fourth nationally on the penalty kill with a .919 efficiency. Army continues its non-conference slate at the Fortress Invitational this Friday and Saturday at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Army takes on No. 14 Providence Friday at 5 p.m. PT. On Saturday, Army will either face No. 2 Cornell or No. 6 Ohio State.
