Hyundai A-League

Football’s momentum is building and Canberra is going to be a part of it. Anyone who queued up for 25 minutes to get into the Newcastle Jets v Central Coast Mariners game last Saturday will know – their is a passion for Football in Canberra!

The Socceroos are on track for another FIFA World Cup, The Matildas reached new heights in the FIFA 2007 China World Cup. The Hyundai A-League is pulling record crowds up 32 per cent over three years. In 2007/08 the Hyundai A-League achieved record TV viewing figures, up 23%, on Fox Sports.

It is a new dawn for football in Australia. Nikolai Topor-Stanley, Caitlin Munoz, Woden Valley girls, Ben Harrington, Ben Wilson, Allyson Flynn, Ben Williams are just some of the Canberrans travelling throughout Asia for football.

Canberra can now take advantage of football’s growth and it’s move into Asia. Canberra needs an A-League team.

We have a clear process to do this and it will show everyone that an A-League side is not only important for Canberra but a necessity.

We’ve set 1 July 2009 as the FFA submission date. When successful, this will give us inclusion in the A-League for the 2010-11 season.

In the period leading up to this deadline, it is critical that we amass vocal support to justify to governments, corporate, and individual investors that a Canberra A-League franchise will be a viable proposition.
