No. 5 Adrian Overpowers Buffalo State Women’s Hockey, 6-0
ADRIAN, Mich.—No. 5 Adrian (13-0-3) jumped out to an early lead and skated to a 6-0 victory over visiting Buffalo State (7-6-2) tonight in a non-conference matchup.
Adrian jumped out to a 3-0 lead before the midway point of the opening period and took that advantage into the first intermission, holding a 16-3 edge in shots through the first 20 minutes. Buffalo State played a much more even second period, but the Bulldogs still managed to extend their lead to 5-0 heading into the final frame. The Bengals outshot the Bulldogs 10-4 in the third period, but Adrian closed out the scoring with just eight seconds remaining in the contest.
The Bulldogs finished with a 32-22 advantage in shots. Justine Silva (El Monte, CA/Arroyo) finished with 26 saves in goal for Buffalo State. Adrian, which boasts the nation’s top-ranked power play finished 1 for 3 with the player-advantage, while the Bengals were 0 for 5.
