Sternbach Named Jewish Sports Review All-American

Hobart College sophomore Zach Sternbach (Loudonville, N.Y.) was named to the 2017-18 Men’s College Hockey All-America Team by the Jewish Sports Review. Sternbach is the fifth Statesman and second Hobart hockey player to earn this award.

Sternbach played in 29 games for the Statesmen. He ranked second on the team with 13 goals and third with 21 points. Sternbach finished the year ranked fifth in the NEHC in goals and tied for 12th in points. He also led the league in shorthanded points (3) and shorthanded goals (2) and tied for 11th in power-play goals (3). Sternbach scored twice in a 9-1 win at Castleton and notched what proved to be the game winner in a 5-0 win over then No. 12/14 UMass Boston. He added a goal and an assist in a 3-2 NEHC Tournament semifinal victory over Babson.

Sternbach has played in 56 career games. He has logged 22 goals and 18 assists for 40 points.

Sternbach is the sixth Hobart and William Smith student-athlete to be honored by JSR. HWS was also represented this year by William Smith hockey’s Egan Sachs-Hecht. Hobart hockey’s Ryan Adler was honored in 2006 and 2009, Hobart’s soccer’s Matt Schwartz ’09 was recognized in 2008 and Hobart football’s Ali Marpet ’15 was honored in 2014.
