Behind two goals from Dylan Jenkins and one goal Andrew Logar, Lockport downed Wilkes-Barre 7-4.
Jenkins scored the first of his two goals at 1:36 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lockport. Greg Terlov assisted on the tally. Jenkins’ next tally made the score 2-0 Lockport with 13:51 left in the first period. Terlov picked up the assist. Logar scored 10:08 into the third period to make the score 5-4 Lockport. Nicholas Wilcox assisted on the tally.
Lockport’s penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Wilkes-Barre power plays. Wilkes-Barre was unable to stop Lockport from sending pucks towards the net, and Lockport eventually piled up 51 shots on goal. Lockport surpassed its usual scoring output this season. Lockport has scored at the pace of 4.3 goals per game during the current campaign.
Lockport also had goals scored by Justin Durkee, Erick Santiago, Mark Friol, and Ryan Logar, who scored one goal each. In addition, Lockport received assists from Jordan Pocobello, Frank II Vecchio, and Sam Rydzewski, who each chipped in one.
Wilkes-Barre excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in nine chances. Wilkes-Barre forced Lockport goalie Sal Stalteri to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. Wilkes-Barre could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 22 minutes in penalties during the game.
Wilkes-Barre was led by Ryan Flanagan, who tallied two goals and one assist. Flanagan scored the first of his two goals at 2:50 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Wilkes-Barre. Brett Welsh picked up the assist. Flanagan’s next tally made the score 4-3 Wilkes-Barre with 4:26 left in the second period. Wilkes-Barre also got points from Derrick Wruble, who also registered one goal and one assist. Brandon McCulloch also scored for Wilkes-Barre. More assists for Wilkes-Barre came via James Lyle, Alexander Barrone, and William Romanowski, who contributed one each.
Stalteri recorded 29 saves for Lockport. Lockport incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Wilkes-Barre’s Mathieu Beaudet stopped 44 shots out of the 50 that he faced.
