PLYMOUTH, Mich. – The 2017 IIHF Women’s World Championship opens here at USA Hockey Arena tomorrow with the Czech Republic and Switzerland battling at noon ET to open the week-long competition for world supremacy.

Tickets for all games are available either online at 2017womensworlds.com or in person at the USA Hockey Arena box office.

The tournament’s opening ceremony will take place just prior to tomorrow night’s featured game, where defending champion Team USA faces Team Canada in the renewal of one of the greatest rivalries in sport. Opening faceoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET and fans are encouraged to be in their seats by 7:15 p.m.

Youth players from the local area will take part in the opening ceremony as flag bearers representing each of the participating countries – USA, Canada, Russia, Finland, Sweden, Czech Republic, Switzerland and Germany. In addition, USA Hockey president Jim Smith will provide the official welcome, while IIHF event co-chair Marta Zawadzka from Poland will officially open the tournament.

A ceremonial puck drop is also part of the festivities with 1998 Olympians Shelley Looney from the U.S. and Manon Rheaume from Canada doing the honors.
