36 Valients Selected To UCHC Men’s And Women’s All-Academic Teams

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) released the 2018-19 All-Academic Teams today, Tuesday, July 30. A total of 316 male and female student-athletes were honored by the UCHC with the academic distinction.

The conference’s All-Academic selections recognize student-athletes that not only work hard on the ice, but in the classroom as well. In order to be considered, players must have completed at least one academic year at his or her current institution and hold a cumulative 2018-19 grade point average of at least 3.20.

At total of 174 male student-athletes were recognized, led by Wilkes University’s 23 selections. Manhattanville and Utica College both tied for second with 21 honorees apiece. Other programs that made the list were: Chatham University (19), Elmira College (17), King’s College (17), Neumann University (16), Stevenson University (14), Lebanon Valley College (13) and Nazareth College (13).

For the women, 142 student-athletes made the All-Academic squad, led by Stevenson’s 20, while the Valiants were sixth with 15 of their 17 players making the cut. Other teams to earn consideration were: Chatham (19), Neumann (17), Elmira (16), Nazareth (16), Utica (12), William Smith College (11), King’s (7), Lebanon Valley (7) and Wilkes (2).

About the UCHC
The United Collegiate Hockey Conference is a collaborative effort between institutions to provide a competitive environment and structure for NCAA Division III men’s and women’s ice hockey in the Eastern United States. Our membership encompasses a wide geographic area spanning from Central and Western New York, to the greater Pittsburgh and Baltimore areas. In its third season, the UCHC will incorporate the efforts of ice hockey student-athletes from Alvernia University, Chatham University, Elmira College, King’s College, Lebanon Valley College, Manhattanville College, Nazareth College, Neumann University, Stevenson University, Utica College, Wilkes University and William Smith College into their strong, but evolving membership that strives for on-ice excellence while also preparing student athletes for their off-ice futures.
