16 Statesmen Earn NEHC All-Academic Honors

Sixteen members of the Hobart College hockey team were named to the 2017-18 New England Hockey Conference All-Academic Team.

To be eligible for all-academic recognition, a student must carry a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average and have completed one full year at their institution.

The following Statesmen earned a spot on the all-academic team:

Junior Brandon Bistodeau (Rogers, Minn.), economics and history major
Sophomore Alexander Connal (Simsbury, Conn.), architectural studies major
Sophomore Julien Denicourt (Bromont, Quebec), economics major
Senior Ben Greiner (Newport Beach, Calif.), American studies major
Senior Jordan Haskell (Toole, Utah), economics major
Sophomore Lawson MacDougall (Williamstown, Ontario), economics major
Junior Jack Macnee (Ridgewood, N.J.), economics major
Senior Frank Oplinger (Sewickley, Pa.), physics and computer science major
Junior Matt Pizzo (Thorold, Ontario), economics and environmental studies major
Senior Vincent Russo (Jackson, N.J.), economics major
Junior Cam Shaheen (North Andover, Mass.), economics major
Junior Tanner Shaw (Toronto, Ontario), political science major
Senior Andrew Silard (Greenwich, Conn.), economics and environmental studies major
Sophomore Zach Sternbach (Loudonville, N.Y.), economics major
Junior Jonas Toupal (Vcelna, Czech Republic), geoscience major
Senior Tyler Wolf (Naperville, Ill.), economics major

Haskell, Oplinger, Silard and Wolf earned conference all-academic recognition for the third year in a row. Bistodeau, Macnee, Pizzo, Shaheen, Shaw and Toupal garnered academic honors for the second straight year.

The Statesmen finished the 2017-18 season with an 18-6-5 overall record and a 12-3-3 mark in the NEHC. Hobart won the NEHC tournament title in its inaugural season in the league. The Statesmen earned their fourth straight NCAA tournament appearance.
