Peterson Named ECAC West Player of the Week

POTSDAM, N.Y.-SUNY Potsdam women’s hockey player Amanda Peterson (West Chazy, N.Y./Chazy Flyers) has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference West’s Player of the Week. The Bears’ captain helped guide Potsdam to a two-game sweep of New England College last weekend.

On Friday afternoon, Peterson scored the game-winning goal with 23 seconds left in overtime to give the Bears a 2-1 win over the Pilgrims. The following day, the senior forward scored a goal and assisted on the game-winner to help Potsdam to a 3-1 victory.

This season, Peterson is second on the team in scoring with five goals and three assists for eight points. In her career, she has 16 goals and 17 assists for 33 points in 87 games. Peterson also served as captain of Potsdam’s women’s soccer team this fall.

The Bears are off until Jan. 10, when they host Hamilton College at 3 p.m.
