Lomsnes, Wilkinson, and Wilson Earn TTUSA Honors

Atlantic Hockey has awarded Tanner Lomsnes, Alex Wilkinson, and Brian Wilson with Travel Team USA Weekly Honors.

Player of the Week

Tanner Lomsnes – Niagara
Junior, Forward – Red Deer, ALB/Corpus Christi Ice Rays

Tanner Lomsnes scored four points in two games last weekend, including a point on both game-winning goals, as the Niagara Purple Eagles earned a road sweep over Air Force. The junior was one of three Purple Eagles with three points in a 6-3 win on Dec. 1, tallying one goal and two assists, including the set-up assist on Johnny Curran’s game-winning goal. Lomsnes followed that effort up with a game-winning goal and a plus-3 rating in Niagara’s 5-2 win on Dec. 2.

Defensive Player of the Week

Alex Wilkinson – Army West Point
Sophomore, Defense – Raleigh, NC/CT Oilers

Alex Wilkinson registered two points in Army’s lone game of the week, a 3-1 win over #17 Colgate. He scored the game-winning goal midway through the second period and also assisted on Army’s third goal a few minutes later. Wilkinson also led the Black Knights with three blocks and finished with a +1 rating.

Goalie of the Week

Aidan Pelino – Bentley
Sophomore, Goalie – Oakville, ONT/Chilliwack Chiefs

Aidan Pelino was strong in net for the second consecutive week, extending Bentley’s, as well as his own, win streak to four games. He picked up wins at then-No. 18 UMass Lowell and at Atlantic Hockey rival AIC, stopping a combined 56 shots in the two wins. Pelino allowed two goals in each game as Bentley earned a 3-2 OT win over UMass Lowell and a 6-2 win over AIC. Overall he had a 1.94 GAA and a 0.933 save percentage for the week.

Rookie of the Week

Brian Wilson – Niagara
Freshman, Goalie – Pickering, ONT/Powell River Kings

Brian Wilson backstopped Niagara to a pair of road wins over Air Force, making a combined 63 saves in the two victories. He allowed five total goals, recording a goals against average of 2.50 and a save percentage of 0.926. Wilson made 40 saves in Friday’s 6-3 victory, a game in which Niagara was outshot 43-27. He made 23 saves and allowed two goals in a 5-2 win.
