Niagara Earns Votes In USCHO.COM Poll For 2nd Straight Week

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Niagara Purple Eagles hockey team received votes in the USCHO.com Men’s Division I poll for the second consecutive week. Last weekend, Niagara split a two-game series at Dwyer Arena against the Atlantic Hockey-leading Army Black Knights, with a 3-1 loss on Nov. 10 followed up by a 3-2 victory on Nov. 11.

At 6-3-1, the Purple Eagles are off to the fourth-best start in program history and the best since earning a 7-3-0 record through 10 games in 2007-08. With a 5-1-1 record in Atlantic Hockey play, Niagara currently sits second in the conference with 11 points.

Sophomore defenseman Noah Delmas took over the Niagara scoring lead last weekend, tallying two assists in the team’s win over Army on Saturday. Delmas is tied for fourth in the NCAA and leads Atlantic Hockey with 12 assists, and his 13 points are second in the conference. Forwards Derian Plouffe (5+6) and Tanner Lomsnes (8+3) are tied for second among the Purple Eagles with 11 points apiece.

Niagara is off from game action this weekend before starting a five-game road trip at current No. 6 Cornell on Tuesday, Nov. 21. The Big Red have started the season with a perfect 6-0-0 record. From there, Niagara heads to Massachusetts for a two-game series with the American International Yellow Jackets on Friday, Nov. 24 and Saturday, Nov. 25.
