Goaltender Kelsey Neumann, one of the most popular players in the brief history of the Buffalo Beauts, is returning to the team after a season away. Cherished by fans for her accessibility, passion for hockey, gracious nature, and unique social media presence, Neumann has signed a contract for the NWHL’s fifth season.

“I’m looking forward to working with GM Mandy Cronin, Coach Pete Perram, and my teammates in our quest to bring the Isobel Cup back to Buffalo,” said Neumann. “I am extremely excited for the opportunity to rejoin the Buffalo Beauts, be part of the NWHL again, and continue to promote the growth of women’s hockey.”

The China Grove, North Carolina native spent two seasons with the Beauts from 2016-2018, winning the Isobel Cup with the team in 2017. She began her collegiate career at Clarkson before transferring to SUNY Plattsburgh.

“Kelsey will bring character and a veteran presence to the team,” said Perram. “She’s a team player who is a stalwart in net.”

Cronin added: “We are happy to have Kelsey back with the Beauts. She plays an important role not only within our team and organization, but also in the Buffalo community.”

Besides playing for the Beauts, Neumann is teaching at a charter school in Buffalo. In addition, she has started a business called Tactical Hockey Training by Neumann, focusing on mentoring and coaching young athletes both in Western New York as well as other parts of the country.

She will also be joining the Buffalo State coaching staff as the goalie coach for the upcoming season and will continue volunteering as a Pro Ambassador with “Lift the Mask,” a program that promotes the awareness of mental health in the goalie community.
