(The following was what was written, in part, about Meg Gifford in the Hasek’s Heroes Hockey Awards program. Meg was the winner of Hasek’s Heroes Lifetime Achievement Award)

Meg Gifford has spent a “lifetime” of energy, compassion, and generosity working on behalf of others so that they may have the opportunity to experience the game of hockey. Gifford epitomizes many of the qualities that are synonymous with the Hasek’s Heroes Lifetime Achievement Award. She is the ultimate volunteer as she has worked tirelessly for the benefit of the sport.

In 2008 Meg joined the Cazenovia Hockey board of directors working at every level of the organization. In 2010 Meg made an immediate impact to the Cazenovia Youth Hockey Organization by implementing the Cazenovia Lady Chiefs Hockey Program. Shortly after, Meg became the President of the board leading through action resulting in many new opportunities for the players and the organization.

In addition to the Cazenovia Youth Hockey Program, Meg is an 11 year WNYAL representative, a 2012 volunteer for the World Juniors and she is responsible for launching the NHL Learn to Play Program with the Buffalo Sabres at the Cazenovia Rink in 2016.

In 2017 Gifford expanded her hockey portfolio to include the Buffalo Explorers High School Team, serving as the franchise holder and manager.

Meg lives in South Buffalo with her husband, Jim, and is a mother of four. Despite that the most amazing aspect is none of Meg’s family is currently playing youth or high school hockey. Meg’s devotion to all of these organizations and the community is genuinely a result for her passion and love for the players and the sport of hockey.
