Manhattanville Enjoying Winning Streak; Union and RPI Starting Slow

Manhattanville, Union and RPI have just taken to the ice in November and while two are starting slow, Manhattanville is making  its mark.

With no games played last season, Manhattanville closed out 2019-2020 with a 17-8-3 overall record under Coach David Turco. Turco took the men’s head coaching position at Manhattanville in September 2020 and Jennifer MacAskill was appointed Head Coach of the women’s team in October 2020. With no games played, this is her first season behind the bench after serving as an assistant coach since 2018.

The Valiants are 5-1 overall with their single loss coming from Arcadia College. A Western New York player, Morganne Dee, helped hand Manhattanville that loss with an assist in the first game and an goal and assist in the second game.

The Valiants will play Amherst and Connecticut College November 27 and 28, respectively before closing out the semester against Chatham and Wesleyan College in December

A group of New York State women are rostered including Gabrielle Cox (Ichabod Crane School), Holly Meredith (Saratoga Springs/Vermont Academy), Kerry Carr (Millbrook), Taylor Ham (Millbrook) Ava Panzer (Pawling), Fjolla Berisha (Brewster Lady Bulldogs), Franny Gerardi (Selects Academy) and Rosalyn Lim (Xaverian High School)

Union College is 2-12-1 as they move into December with the puck dropping against New Hampshire Friday and Saturday, November 26 and 27. In December they will faceoff against Harvard, Dartmouth and Franklin Pierce College. 

While they beat RIT in a doubleheader opening weekend, they have fallen to their all ECACH rivals, thus far.

This is Coach Josh Sciba’s sixth season behind the bench. With no games played last season, they went 5-14-3 overall in 2019-20. 

Grace Heiting leads the scoring with 6 goals, 2 assists followed by Celeste Beaudoin, 3 g 5 a. In goal Olivia Rinzel started in 13 games and has a .891 save percentage. 

Maren Friday was named ECAC Rookie of the Week on October 4.

RPI is having the same type of season with a 5-10-0 record. They beat Syracuse in exhibition play and then downed Union 4-0 and 9-2 in ECAC play. This weekend (Nov. 26/27) they face St. Cloud followed by Dartmouth and Harvard before the holiday break.

Coach Bryan Vines was named to the position in June 2017. 

Several RPI players brought home honors this fall including Amanda Rampado, MAC Goaltender of the Week for October 25, this was her second award this season; Audrey McCutcheson was selected as ECAC Rookie of the Week for October 11. 

The Engineers are 5-10 overall coming off a no season and a 0-33-1 overall in 2019-20.
