Hamilton’s Men’s Hockey Ranked Ninth In Both Division III Top 15 Polls

The Hamilton College men’s hockey team is ranked ninth in both the D3hockey.com and USCHO.com Division III Top 15 polls as of Feb. 13.

The Continentals (15-3-4 overall) are in the top 10 of both polls for the seventh straight week. Hamilton has lost just once in its last seven games. The Continentals defeated NESCAC rivals Connecticut College and Tufts University on the road this past weekend.

Hamilton is in second place in the conference standings with a 9-3-4 record. The Continentals wrap up the regular season with NESCAC home games against Middlebury College on Friday, Feb. 17 and Williams College on Saturday, Feb. 18. Hamilton blanked Middlebury 3-0 and tied the Ephs 3-3 on the road back in early December. Williams leads the conference standings and is receiving votes in both polls.

The Continentals feature a balanced offense as nine players have anywhere between 10 and 21 points this season. Brandon Willett ’18 leads the team with 12 goals and 21 points, and Neil Conway ’18 and Jon Carkeek ’17 have been credited with 14 assists apiece. Goaltender Evan Buitenhuis ’18 is one of the best in the division with his 1.50 goals against average and .949 save percentage. Buitenhuis has allowed just one goal in each of the last four games.

Hamilton is second in Division III in scoring defense with 1.59 goals allowed per game and third in penalty kill at 90.2 percent.
