BROOKLYN, NY, June 15, 2017 – Connecticut has re-signed forward Juana Baribeau to a contract for the 2017-18 season. This will be the Quebec native’s second season in the NWHL and with the Whale.

Last season, Baribeau joined the club late after a roster spot opened up, eager to start her professional career in the U.S. The forward was scoreless in 8 games, but is focused on an expanded role with the club this season.

“I’m really excited to get the chance to properly prepare for the season and to show what I am capable of as a player,” said Baribeau. “As the NWHL continues to rise in stature and popularity, I want to do my part to help the league and grow the game. I’m also looking forward to being part of a strong team in Connecticut.”

Last month, Baribeau joined teammate Anya Battaglino as spokespeople and participants in an event sponsored by Cigna for the charity Girls on the Run. Baribeau and Battaglino were big hits with the young participants – even running back from the finish line continuously so they could complete the final quarter-miles with anyone who wanted to join them.

“That was an incredible, inspiring event and a lot of fun,” said Baribeau, who is a grants database specialist at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving.

Baribeau played at Clarkson University while studying Innovation and Entrepreneurship. In her four seasons at Clarkson, she had 62 goals (including 12 game-winners) and 55 assists for 117 points. She is the third leading scorer in Clarkson history and was a top-four scorer on the club in each of her four seasons.
