TROY, N.Y. – A number of National Hockey League (NHL) teams open their summer development camps this week and eight current and former Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athletes have been chosen to take part. The various camps give players, both drafted and free agents, a chance to work out and play in front of professional scouts and coaches across North America.

Former captain Riley Bourbonnais ’17 and recent Penguins draft pick Will Reilly (Toronto, ON) are headed to Pittsburgh camp, while Todd Burgess (Phoenix, AZ) will be in Ottawa once again as the Senators’ fourth round pick in last year’s draft. Jimmy DeVito ’17, who was also a captain of the Engineers last season, will be in Washington with the Capitals, while goaltender Chase Perry (Andover, MN) – a fifth round draft choice of the Red Wings – is in Detroit.

Newcomer Linden Marshall (Victoria, BC) earned an invite from the Vancouver Canucks, while senior defenseman Mike Prapavessis (Oakville, ON) and Jared Wilson (Calgary, AB) will be in Dallas and Anaheim, respectively. Prapavessis was a fourth round pick of the Stars in 2014.

Rensselaer opens the 2017-18 season with an exhibition game against Saint Mary’s (NS) on September 30 (5pm), before heading to Ohio State for a weekend series on October 13-14.
