Buffalo Stars to face Adirondack

The Buffalo Stars Empire Junior team is back in action this weekend as the Adirondack Junior Wings come to town.

 

The Wings, with a record of 11-19 are in 10th place in the Western Conference, just above Buffalo.  They are led in scoring by Matt Flynn with 30 points.  The Junior Wings have scored 83 times while surrendering 130. They have lost their last 3 games and currently trail 9th place Jersey by 6 points.

 

Buffalo, with a record of 2-27 hopes to earn some much needed points this weekend. Struggling offensively with only 44 goals, the Stars have given up 173.  John Colvin has taken the scoring lead for the team with 18 points, followed by Patrick Schmelzinger with 17. Schmelzinger has played in 5 less games.

 

“We feel really good about this weekend” said Star Head Coach Jerry Wheeler.  “The boys have been practicing hard and want to finish the season strong”

 

The Stars are down to their final 9 league games and are looking towards finishing the season in the win column.

 

Warm up for this weekend’s games at Holiday Twin Rinks is 7pm Saturday and 10am Sunday. Buffalo remains home again next weekend as the Jersey Hitmen come to town.

 

STARS NOTES:

Forward Patrick Schmelzinger represented the Buffalo Stars at the Annual EJ/Empire All Star Weekend. Patrick recorded an assist and played very well according to league officials.
