The Buffalo Jr. Sabres were firing on all cylinders against the Burlington Cougars, and when the final buzzer sounded Jr. Sabres emerged with a 6-1 win.

Buffalo was led by Wilson Vershay, who racked up one goal. Vershay scored on the power play 15:05 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Buffalo. A hooking penalty on Jack Jeffers had put the Jr. Sabres on the power play. Justin Cmunt picked up the assist.

Buffalo forced Burlington goalie Andrew Lee to work between the pipes, taking 49 shots. The Jr. Sabres outdid their season average for goals scored. Buffalo has scored at the pace of 3.2 goals per game during the current campaign. The Jr. Sabres’ defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Buffalo also got points from Joshua Biasillo, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Buffalo included Zach Evancho, who had two and Michael Bevilacqua and Chris Moses, who each put in one. More assists for Buffalo came via Christopher Berger and Bray Crowder, who contributed one each and Daniel Lafontaine, Collin Farrell, and Brenden Dunning, who each chipped in two.

Alex Connal recorded 15 saves for Buffalo. The Jr. Sabres incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Cougars’ Lee stopped 43 shots out of the 49 that he faced. Burlington incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. For the Cougars, Nicholas Holt was ejected from the game.
