Top PHF talents to compete January 29 at Northtown Center

(Brooklyn, N.Y.) – The Premier Hockey Federation announced that the 2022 PHF All-Star Showcase originally scheduled to be hosted in Toronto on Saturday, January 29 has been relocated to Buffalo as a result of COVID-19 restrictions in the Province of Ontario. The event will continue on the same date and feature this season’s new three team format with top talents assembled from across the PHF. Puck drop is slated for 5:30 p.m. ET at Northtown Center, home of the Beauts.

“The All-Star Showcase is an important opportunity for our athletes to display their talent and skill, but also for our passionate fans to celebrate the very best in the PHF,” said PHF Commissioner Tyler Tumminia. “Given Ontario’s current restrictions we made the determination that shifting the event across the border to Buffalo provides more clarity for our planning to ensure a special experience can be delivered for our athletes. Our appreciation is extended to the Beauts and the team at Northtown Center for their accommodation under these timelines. I’d also like to acknowledge the Six and the team at Canlan Sports – York who have been tremendous partners throughout this process. We look forward to returning the PHF All-Star Showcase to Toronto in 2023.”

A new 2022 PHF All-Star Showcase logo, designed by HEARTLENT Group, encompasses many of the original elements inspired by the ‘Breaking Boundaries’ theme. In addition to the Buffalo text, an outline of the Electric Tower that prevails across the city’s downtown skyline, is the focal point of the logo transition. The original event jerseys designed by M. Style will continue to be worn by the All-Stars.

Buffalo will become the PHF’s first two-time All-Star host after serving as home to the inaugural event in 2016 that included current All-Stars Shiann Darkangelo, Kaleigh Fratkin, and Madison Packer. A total of eight Beauts will participate in 2022 including forwards Taylor Accursi and Anjelica Diffendal, plus defenders Dominique Kremer and Marie-Jo Pelletier who were among the preliminary selections made by PHF coaches. Forwards Kennedy Ganser, Autumn MacDougall, and Cassidy Vinkle were winners of the online fan vote along with goaltender Carly Jackson who will serve as the event’s backup.

Rosters will be selected by All-Star captains Shiann Darkangelo, Jillian Dempsey, and Allie Thunstrom in a virtual draft and revealed this weekend live on ESPN+. Honorary coaches for the event are Meghan Chayka, Melody Davidson, and Sami Jo Small. The three teams will play in three single-period games that will include 10 minutes of 5-on-5 action, followed by five minutes of 3-on-3 play, and a shootout. All goals will count towards final game scores with the top team crowned PHF All-Star champions.

Tickets for the 2022 PHF All-Star Showcase are on sale now and can be purchased at beauts.universitytickets.com. Jerseys and a collection of other event merchandise is available now at phfproshop.com.

The 2022 PHF All-Star Showcase will stream live in the United States exclusively on ESPN+, in Canada to TSN and TSN Direct subscribers, and through the ESPN International distribution network.

The 2023 PHF All-Star Showcase will be played in Toronto at a date still to be determined as part of the full 2022-23 schedule release.
