William Smith College sophomore forward Gina Scibetta (Brewerton, N.Y.) and first-year defenseman Emily Martino (Orange, Conn.) were named to D3hockey.com’s National Team of the Week.

Scibetta, the UCHC Player of the Week, led the Herons with six points on four goals and two assists in a 2-0-0 weekend at home against Chatham. In a 5-3 win on Saturday, she logged the game’s first goal, assisted on William Smith’s third goal, and added what proved to be the game winner in the third period. In a 7-1 victory on Sunday, Scibetta scored two of the Herons’ five, second period goals and assisted on senior Krista Federow’s game-winning goal in the first period.

Scibetta ranks second on the team with 11 points on five goals and six assists this season. She ranks fifth in the UCHC in points, is tied for fourth in goals and is tied for seventh in assists.

Martino notched three points over the weekend. Sunday marked the first multi-point game of her collegiate career. Martino scored her first career goal at 4:27 in the second period, and four minutes later she assisted on a goal by Stephanie Hampton which gave the Herons a 6-1 lead. In Saturday’s win, Martino assisted on the first goal of the game.

Martino has logged a goal and three assists for four points this season. She’s tied for 10th in the conference in first-year scoring and is tied for 13th in defenseman scoring. William Smith ranks second in the UCHC in scoring defense (1.17 ga/gm).
