To Encompass Two Weekends For Second Straight Year
HockeyTV to broadcast largest disabled event of its kind
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The largest disabled event of its kind and one of USA Hockey’s most significant events each season, the 2019 Toyota-USA Hockey Disabled Hockey Festival begins this week in Wesley Chapel, Florida, and will encompass two weekends for the second straight year.
USA Hockey, in partnership with the Tampa Bay Lightning and Statewide Amateur Hockey of Florida, is hosting the Festival in Florida for the first time. The first weekend of the Festival runs Thursday, March 28, through Sunday, March 31, and features five of USA Hockey’s disabled hockey disciplines, including blind, deaf/hard of hearing, standing/amputee, special and Warrior.
The Festival concludes the following weekend (April 4-7) with sled hockey, including the USA Hockey Sled Hockey National Championship.The AdventHealth Center Ice in Wesley Chapel, Florida, will serve as the primary facility both weekends, while nearby Ellenton Ice and Sports Complex (Ellenton, Fla.) will also be utilized.
Each weekend will see USA Hockey host a Try Sled Hockey event. Both events will take place at the AdventHealth Center Ice, which will host the first event on Saturday, March 30, from 2-3 p.m. ET before conducting the second event the following Saturday, April 6, from 2-3 p.m. ET.USA Hockey, in partnership with HockeyTV, will provide live streaming coverage of all games, including the Adult Sled Hockey National Championship.

NOTES: Several members of the gold medal-winning 2018 U.S. Paralympic Sled Hockey Team will take part in the second weekend of the Festival … A year ago, the event set records with 128 teams and nearly 1,700 players … The inaugural Festival in 2005 included 24 teams and nearly 300 players … The mission of the Festival is to provide a fun and exciting weekend of hockey in a grand event as well as promote and grow disabled hockey throughout the country … For more information on disabled hockey, click here.
