BUFFALO – Canisius senior goaltender Charles Williams was named Atlantic Hockey Goalie of the Month for November, league officials announced Thursday.

A native of Canton, Mich., Williams received the honor after a solid month that saw him start all seven games played by the Griffs; posting a 1.75 goals against average and .950 save percentage in those contests. Williams finished November with a 3-2-1 record with two shutouts. The two-time Atlantic Hockey Goalie of the Week honoree (Nov. 8 & Nov. 22) recorded 30 or more saves in four contests, highlighted by a pair of 40-save performances.

Williams began the month by stopping 41 shots in 1-0 victory over RIT on Nov. 4 to record program’s first shutout of the Tigers in the Division I era. He followed that effort by matching his career-high with 43 saves in in a 2-1 victory against the Tigers the following evening. Williams was recognized as NCAA.com Third Star of the Week for his efforts against the Tigers.

Against American International, Williams turned aside 24 shots for his second shutout of the season in a 4-0 triumph (Nov. 18). In the series finale against the Yellow Jackets, he stopped 39 shots in 1-1 draw (Nov. 19).

Canisius (5-8-2, 4-3-2 AHC) returns to action Friday when it hosts Bentley in a 7:35 p.m. contest at KeyBank Rink in HARBORCENTER.
