WINCHENDON, Mass. – The Manhattanville College women’s hockey team was unable to break through the Raven defense Saturday evening, falling in a New England Hockey Conference matchup against Franklin Pierce 4-0.

Freshman goaltender Rose Pijaca (Worcester, Mass./Worcester Academy) made 36 saves in the game and freshman Kat Reilly (Holbrook, N.Y./Boston Shamrocks (JWHL)) and sophomore Sarah Sinning (Southold, NY/National Sports Academy) led the Valiants on the offensive end with five and three shots respectively.

The Valiants (8-15-0 overall, 6-9-0 NEHC) struggled against the defense of Franklin Pierce (15-6-1 overall, 9-6-0 NEHC) all night, unable to reach double digits in shots in any period.

The Ravens jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first period of play, getting goals from Karsyn Baker and Michelle Holmes. Franklin Pierce added a goal in the second and a final tally in the third period to come away with the victory.

Manhattanville remains in sixth place in the New England Hockey Conference with 12 points on the season. The Valiants will round out their regular season schedule next weekend when they host Saint Michael’s and Saint Anselm at Playland Ice Casino.
